Corrections: a line of a family's money left each month as its pay rises, dropping where a benefit ends
How to tell us about a mistake.

If anything on this site is wrong, whether an answer, a figure, a date, a state’s rule or a sentence, we want to fix it.

How to tell us

Email contact@benefitscalculator.app with:

  • the address of the page, and your state;
  • what you typed into the calculator, if it is about an answer (leave out your name, Social Security number and case numbers: we don’t need them);
  • what looks wrong, and what you expected, for example what the office told you;
  • a link to an official source, if you have one.

What we do

We check what you sent against the official pages our figures come from (the federal agencies that run each program, the Code of Federal Regulations, the IRS and each state’s own agencies) and against the arithmetic. If we got something wrong, we correct it. When a correction changes what a page says, rather than only its wording, the page says what changed and when.

When the rules change

Benefit figures change through the year: SNAP’s on October 1, WIC’s and school meals’ on July 1, the poverty guidelines each January or February, tax figures and SSI each January, and states change their own limits from time to time. When they do, we update the data files the calculator and the pages share, and each table shows the period its figures are for and the day they were checked.
